Two benches, one queue, no shortcuts.
There are two of us. One bench runs the standing queue, the other runs same-day work and anything that has gone wrong. Nobody jumps the queue, including us, which is why the board by the door shows the number of bikes ahead of yours rather than a promise.
Counter and bench hours

Tooling we keep
Two truing stands with a dishing gauge, a tensiometer that is calibrated once a year, facing and chasing tools for threaded shells and head tubes, a hanger alignment gauge, hydraulic bleed kits for both fluids, and a headset press.
We do not own a carbon layup setup and are not going to buy one to do a job badly once a year.
Parts policy
Parts are billed at cost plus ten per cent, and the invoice from the supplier goes in the envelope with your card. If you bring your own parts we will fit them, but the ninety-day labour warranty then covers our work only.
Consumables — cables, housing, ferrules, fluid, bar tape, grease — are in the labour price and are never itemised.
Quoted on inspection
Cargo bikes, anything with a motor or a battery, internally geared hubs needing a strip, seized seatposts, and frames that have been crashed. These are all real work with an honest quote; they simply cannot go on a fixed list.
Second-hand
We keep a shelf of serviced used bikes, usually four or five, all of them ordinary. Each one has the service card taped to the stem so you can see exactly what was replaced and when.
Getting hold of us
Email is read twice a day, at opening and at four. Nobody answers the workshop phone with a wheel in the stand, so please do not take it personally.
